Catching Up

Ok, so apparently I've been left alone in this blog, and now it's a sort of self-feeding device. I was never one to mind talking to herself, so don't think this will stop me (Mwa ha ha ha...).

Yesterday I finally had the chance to sit back a little bit at work and look at gofugyourself.com again... Boy, I was 2 full pages behind! Anyways, every one of the photos on the blog were worth all the time it took me to actually read the comments.

It's not that I'm being lazy at work, not at all. I've just figured out, I can't really go out of my way and do extra work for this position: my boss gets used to it, expects it, but then she takes every single chance to rip me / my work to shreads.

As you know, I like to work fast, so I just kind of procrastinate during most of the time it would take someone with a less-than-average intelligence to do it, and then manage to hand it in still a little sooner than she expects.

I realize this sounds like a pretty horrible parragraph about complimenting my capacities or something... I don't mean it like that. Rather it's a horrible parragraph about complimenting my wonderful discoveries.

The thing is (and this pains me, as I'm a believer in universal justice and self investment in work), I guess for the most part, going out of your way at work is really not such a good idea. In the best case scenario, you'll get praised for it, but you will be expected to achieve the same kind of results and efforts even at times when the work load is tripled.

Worst case scenario, all you've done is wrong, and you get fired for not doing what you were supposed to, and having that horrible thing called initiative instead.

What do you think? What are the things that sound like really good ideas but are unlikely to pay off at work?

Seriously, we should try and come up with all the things that sound like they'll get you a promotion and get you fired instead, and write a self help book about it.

Isn't it genious???

I never really liked people who calculate every effort they pun into anything, put apparently it's the only way to go.
